Zatímco saxofonista Cannonball Adderley představuje křesťansky orientovaný, politicky umírněnější proud, jako protiklad zde vyčnívá pianista Cecil Taylor.   Bass – Dave Green Drums – Trevor Tomkins Piano – Michael Garrick Tenor Saxophone, Soprano Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet – Don Rendell Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Ian Carr Donald Percy Rendell (1926– 2015) was an English jazz musician and arranger. A Jehovah's Witness convert in 1956. Ian Carr (1933–2009) was a Scottish jazz musician, composer, writer, and educator. Carr performed and recorded with the Rendell-Carr quintet and jazz-rock band Nucleus.  He also wrote biographies of musicians Keith Jarrett and Miles Davis.

  Islámská symbolika a terminologie raperů není záležitostí současnosti, ale objevuje se už v samotných počátcích této subkultury. Hnutí Zulu Nation nebo kapely Public Enemy, Poor Righteous Teachers a Brand Nubian se velmi sebevědomě a otevřeně hlásily k islámu, budeme-li se ale zabývat detaily a souvislostmi, zjistíme, že ve většině případů se jedná o vlivy sekt Nation of Islam nebo 5% Nation.  Názory a výrazy (převážně 5% Nation) těchto hnutí mezi rapery převládá, a spíše se jedná jen o "sympatie" než o aktivní členství.

Pro fanoušky urban music není jméno hudebního publicisty Karla Veselého žádnou novinkou. V roce 2010 napsal monografii Hudba ohně, která mapuje, jak říká podtitul, " radikální černou hudbu od jazzu po hip hop a dál ".
