"War Is Over! aka Bin Laden has been killed"





This morning I saw smiling faces and celebrating, but I didn’t feel it at all.

 The Purpose of this post is NOT to glorify or celebrate his name or deeds, all what I’d like to see is wisdom and not a shallow way of thinking. This act won’t stop killing innocents, but I am afraid it might seal our minds more than they were before. I don’t feel sadness or happiness, what concerns me more is a close minded people who cannot see the world out there.

What did he really do? Who did he work with? Did he really exist? They say bin Laden has been killed, but who was that guy anyway?

O málokteré významné osobnosti středověku, a to nejenom islámského, máme k dispozici tak podrobné a přesné zprávy jako právě o Ibn Chaldúnovi. Vděčíme za to především jemu samému, neboť zanechal vlastní biografii, lze říci, že Ibn Chaldúnova autobiografie je vůbec nejpodrobnější v celé islámské literatuře.  Abdarrahmán ibn Chaldún, severoafrický dějepisec, polyhistor a myslitel, se během pobytu na hradě Kal´at Ibn Saláma rozhodl sepsat dějiny světa, jejichž první vydání dokončil po sedmi letech práce (1375-1382) a až do konce svého života je doplňoval a zdokonaloval. Ibn Chaldún zamýšlel napsat dějiny těch národů a oblastí, s nimiž se islámský svět dostal do styku. Celý spis se skládá ze sedmi svazků: první díl "Úvod" (arab. Mukaddima), druhý až pátý díl obsahuje historii Arabů od dob před islámských až do Ibn Chaldúnovy doby. "Five tracts of Hasan Al-Banna (1906-1949): A selection from the Majmuat rasail al-Imam al-shahid Hasan al-Banna" Translated by Charles Wendell (University of California, 1978)

Hasan Al-Banna preceded with his work and thus left an imprint on many attempts in the years between the two wars, and especially after the Second World War, to constitute an Islamic order as the supreme political and social ideal. The publication under review contains his five studies translated into English by well-known Arabist and historian Charles Wendell. These are his most often cited essays - Between Yesterday and Today, Our Mission, To What Do We Summon Mankind?, Toward The Light and On Jihad. The main idea is always oriented toward the creation of an Islamic order (an-nizam al-islami). Hasan Al-Banna sees in Islam the only teaching that can ensure social progress and well-being and that is the key to the resolving of all basic problems of mankind. "Korán", Ivan Hrbek (Odeon 1972)

Překlad Koránu od Ivana Hrbka je již třetí v pořadí a patří k těm nejlépe hodnoceným, neboť překladatel si byl vědom chyb a nedostatků v předešlých překladech (Čeština A.R.Nykl, stručný komentáře I.Veselého) a vyvaroval se jich. Jeho text je používán jak orientalisty a odborníky na islám, tak i česky mluvícími muslimy.
