Amadou Diallo


(September 2, 1975--February 4, 1999)
- was a 23-year-old Guinean immigrant in New York City who was shot and killed on February 4, 1999 at 1157 Wheeler Ave. in the Bronx by four NYC Police Department plain-clothed officers
- Diallo was unarmed at the time of the shooting

O málokteré významné osobnosti středověku, a to nejenom islámského, máme k dispozici tak podrobné a přesné zprávy jako právě o Ibn Chaldúnovi. Vděčíme za to především jemu samému, neboť zanechal vlastní biografii, lze říci, že Ibn Chaldúnova autobiografie je vůbec nejpodrobnější v celé islámské literatuře.  Abdarrahmán ibn Chaldún, severoafrický dějepisec, polyhistor a myslitel, se během pobytu na hradě Kal´at Ibn Saláma rozhodl sepsat dějiny světa, jejichž první vydání dokončil po sedmi letech práce (1375-1382) a až do konce svého života je doplňoval a zdokonaloval. Ibn Chaldún zamýšlel napsat dějiny těch národů a oblastí, s nimiž se islámský svět dostal do styku. Celý spis se skládá ze sedmi svazků: první díl "Úvod" (arab. Mukaddima), druhý až pátý díl obsahuje historii Arabů od dob před islámských až do Ibn Chaldúnovy doby. Hlavním přínosem Ibn Chaldúna pro arabskou a muslimskou historii je jeho výbor materiálu a jeho kritické hodnocení. Z historického hlediska jsou ne...

Since the modern Arab Awakening, which soon swept across the entire  Muslim world, with the efforts of Jamal al-Din al-Afghani (d. 1897CE)  and Muammad ‘Abduh (d. 1905CE), the Muslim masses have used the  slogan of ‘application of Islamic shariah´ to propound to the masses,  the alternative which they hoped would take them to the enjoyment of a  free and honourable life.  Every member of the Muslim masses, all over the  world, aspires to the day when Islamic shariah will be applied in a manner  that can remove political and social injustice, realize freedom and dignity  for the human being, and pave the way to good deeds and noble  conduct in order for these principles to become the bases of life in Islamic  society, nay, in the whole of human society.

Ježíš v islámu

Obecně lze říct, že islám chová pro Ježíše velkou úctu, rovněž ale chápe jeho roli s určitými rozdíly než křesťané, tj. dogma o trojici a role Ježíše jako Syna Božího. Pro přesnější popis a výklad byly zvoleny ukázky z knih našich dvou předních orientalistů, Luboše Kropáčka a Bronislava Ostřanského. První část, zaměřená obecně na teologii, je převzata ze dvou velmi známých publikací, " Duchovní cesty islámu " a " Súfismus: dějiny islámské mystiky ". Zde je popsáno postavení a význam Ježíše v sunnitském islámu, dále pak pohled súfíjů, který je mnohdy na hranici islámu, ale vždy se snahou o jeho sblížení se s křesťany. Je-li řeč o Ježíši, nemůžeme opomenout islámský pohled na konec světa, ve které hraje Ježíš významnou roli. Pro tuto pasáž byla použita ukázka z knihy " Konec tohoto světa: milenialismus v judaismu, křesťanství a islámu ", autor islámské části je Bronislav Ostřanský.
